A History of Excellence

A History of Excellence

Roland Riegel founded Riegel Tuning in 1976, two years after emigrating to Canada from Switzerland. Originally, Riegel built its reputation for excellence in Volkswagen service, which Roland soon expanded to include Porsche performance tuning and service. A true driving enthusiast, he built an early 911 track car that still sees racing action today. With growing demand and appreciation for his skill, Roland eventually relocated his shop and expanded it to include four bays.

A Proud Racing Heritage

When health issues forced Roland to retire in 1998, a young diesel mechanic named Hima Maher bought the business and began operating as Riegel Tuning. Along with Imre Popi, Hima built the business with an increasing focus on Porsche performance enhancement. Hima also built his reputation as one of Calgary’s leading performance drivers and instructors.  Driving for Centennial Motorsports at prestigious races like the Rolex 24 Hour Race at Daytona, Hima worked with international crew chiefs and technicians, and injected his knowledge back into Riegel.

Riegel Today

Following a ski accident that claimed Hima’s life, Riegel began to expand its service under the new ownership of Centennial Motorsports Inc. Today, with a full range of European vehicle certification and knowledge that also includes Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz, Riegel upholds the vision of Roland and Hima – to always focus on quality workmanship and service.
